Job Summary
The Data Center Supervisor plays a leadership role working with multiple technicians in maintaining the data center infrastructure that keeps the Data Center operations running. You will be responsible for the physical installation, maintenance, monitoring, and management of servers, storage, and networking equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to incident response, inventory management, and adherence to strict security and operational protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and management of hardware, servers, storage, and networking equipment.
- Oversee the response to and resolution of problems, malfunctions, or breakdowns in the data center.
- Manage the racking and stacking of servers, switches, and other hardware.
- Conduct and oversee regular equipment audits for inventory management.
- Utilize and oversee the use of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
- Monitor security alerts and ensure timely responses.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and replacements.
- Supervise cabling and cable management activities.
- Monitor and optimize network performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communicate with SAS teams to maintain a secure data center environment.
- Enforce data center security policies and access controls.
- Oversee and perform regular system updates and patches.
- Ensure strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching within the team.
Qualification:
- 3 years of experience in a computer technician or similar role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory position.
- Associate degree in an IT-related field preferred.
- CompTIA ServerPlus, CompTIA Network, CCNP or A preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems.
- Extensive knowledge of computer systems, networks, servers, and system maintenance.
- In-depth understanding of computer equipment including laptops,servers, printers, and routers.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
