Tool & Die Maker | Logan, UT
Nexeo is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to support precision tooling operations in a ceramics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for constructing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying ceramic compacting tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in prototype, experimental, and production processes. The ideal candidate will have strong machining expertise, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience working to tight tolerances using a variety of toolroom equipment.
Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, repair, and modify ceramic compacting tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
- Analyze tooling issues and determine appropriate procedures for rework due to revisions, damage, or out-of-tolerance conditions
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and oral instructions
- Plan and lay out work using shop mathematics, including trigonometry
- Work with tungsten carbide materials to close tolerances
- Operate and maintain toolroom equipment including lathes, CNC milling machines, surface grinders, and EDM machines
- Machine complex electrodes or provide instruction on proper machining methods
- Perform heat treating, brazing, silver soldering, and polishing of carbide tooling
- Inspect components using precision measurement equipment to ensure conformance to specifications
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and make necessary adjustments or revisions
- Collaborate with Engineering on new tooling designs and improvements
- Use computer systems to document tooling changes and create CNC programs
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across departments
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; vocational or technical training preferred
- Journeyman-level machinist experience preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of tool & die experience
- Strong understanding of tool & die construction procedures
- Basic understanding of GD&T tolerances
- Experience working with tungsten carbide tooling
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry
- Experience using precision measurement tools
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact effectively with team members
Pay
$26.67–$28.85 per hour
Schedule
Full Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
