Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Facilities

Nexeo HR is hiring experienced Mechanical Engineers (mid-level and senior-level) for direct-hire, onsite roles supporting large-scale industrial facility design. These positions focus on mechanical system design, engineering documentation, P&IDs, specifications, vendor reviews, equipment packages, and cross-discipline coordination for complex industrial environments. Ideal candidates have experience in industrial facilities, refineries, chemical processing, chilled water systems, HVAC, or other advanced mechanical systems. These roles offer a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), competitive pay, overtime potential, relocation assistance, and long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review mechanical design documents including P&IDs, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions

• Design, analyze, and evaluate mechanical components, systems, and processes

• Develop specifications for specialized or custom equipment and serve as technical representative for purchase orders

• Review vendor submittals and manage supplier technical performance

• Perform system sizing, equipment selection, and chilled water system design

• Support development of custom equipment packages such as skids and specialty assemblies

• Coordinate work across engineering disciplines, vendors, contractors, and construction teams

• Prepare engineering reports, conceptual studies, proposals, and technical recommendations

• Support field engineering, installation documentation, testing, and maintenance procedures

• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers

• Ensure mechanical system design meets applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

• Assist with project and construction management activities related to mechanical scope

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

• Must pass background check and drug screening (including marijuana)

• Real ID–compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the United States

• 5 years mechanical engineering experience supporting large industrial or mission-critical facilities

• Experience with P&IDs

• Experience with pipe sizing and mechanical calculations

• Experience with chilled water and HVAC systems

• Experience with equipment specifications and procurement documentation

• Experience in industrial, chemical processing, refinery, nuclear, or power-generation environments

• Experience developing custom equipment packages (skids, specialty assemblies)

• Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)

• Experience under quality programs such as ASME NQA-1 or AS9100D

Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer Requirements

• 5 years mechanical design experience

• Strong understanding of HVAC, piping systems, and mechanical calculations

• Ability to coordinate design work with multi-disciplinary teams

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Senior Mechanical Engineer Requirements

• 8 years advanced mechanical design or project engineering experience

• Ability to lead mechanical design tasks independently

• Proven mentoring or leadership ability

• Advanced experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for complex facilities

Pay

$118,000–$150,000 per year (based on experience)
