Junior Fire Protection Engineer | Ogden, UT
Nexeo Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in a full-time, on-site role supporting critical facility operations. This position offers a 9x80 work schedule with every other Friday off, paid overtime, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in fire protection engineering, including experience with large, complex facilities and system design, along with a proactive approach to ensuring compliance with fire protection program requirements. A relocation allowance is available for qualified candidates who are not local to the Ogden area.
Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and implement fire protection documents and tools.
- Assist in the development of fire protection program requirements.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of fire protection principles and best practices.
- Assess implementation of and compliance with the Fire Protection Plan (FPP).
- Identify and report deficiencies to management.
- Review and maintain an understanding of facility Fire Hazard Analyses.
- Maintain an understanding of facility fire protection features, process flow diagrams, system design descriptions, facility design descriptions, and documented safety analyses (DSAs).
- Perform facility audits in accordance with the Fire Protection Facility Assessment Plan and periodically review Pre-Fire Response Plans.
- Assist in the coordination of fire department familiarization tours.
- Perform and document monthly facility fire protection inspections.
- Maintain a working knowledge of inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) requirements for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
- Provide oversight, audits, and evaluations for the Hot Work Permit Program.
- Perform Technical Safety Requirements inspections of assigned facilities.
- Support the fire protection team to ensure implementation of the FPP.
- Identify and implement improvements and corrective actions related to the FPP.
- Assist in identifying and clarifying fire protection requirements during project planning.
- Assist in the development and approval of compensatory actions for fire system impairments.
- Conduct presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal communications.
- Oversee field activities through inspections, testing, and equipment operations.
Qualifications
- 2 years of fire protection experience.
- Experience designing fire protection systems for large-scale or unique commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
Pay
$93,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
Schedule
Full Time | Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with every other Friday off (9x80 schedule)
