Apartment Maintenance Technician | Sparks, NV

Nexeo Staffing is hiring a dependable and hands-on Apartment Maintenance Technician to help maintain a multifamily residential community. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with their hands, and taking pride in creating safe, clean, and comfortable homes for residents.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will assist with apartment repairs, unit turnovers, preventative maintenance, landscaping, and general property upkeep. The ideal candidate is hardworking, responsive, and willing to take ownership of maintenance needs as they arise. This role also requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance requests and address property concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with apartment make-ready work to prepare units for new residents.
• Repair common plumbing issues, including clogged drains, leaking faucets, garbage disposals, toilets, P-traps, and related fixtures.
• Properly apply caulk around sinks, tubs, windows, shelving, and other areas as needed.
• Replace light bulbs, outlets, fixtures, and other basic electrical components while following electrical safety procedures.
• Use multimeters, amp probes, and outlet testers safely and accurately.
• Patch, repair, cut, and install drywall or sheetrock.
• Prepare walls and surfaces for painting by sanding, patching, cleaning, and caulking.
• Paint walls, trim, baseboards, and areas around fixtures and cover plates.
• Repair, stretch, cut, tuck, clean, and install carpet when necessary.
• Repair or replace baseboards, door trim, closet shelving, and other woodwork.
• Perform minor repairs to apartment door locks, including battery replacement.
• Remove weeds, collect trash, clean common areas, and blow out breezeways.
• Repair PVC pipes, drip irrigation lines, and other basic landscaping systems.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Assist with training new maintenance team members when needed.
• Complete additional maintenance and property-support tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to two years of maintenance, property management, construction, or related experience preferred. 
  • Preferred: Apartment maintenance experience.
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, painting, drywall, carpentry, and apartment maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to properly use a plumbing auger to clear drains.
• Understanding of basic electrical safety practices.
• Ability to read measurements, instructions, diagrams, or basic blueprints.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable, hardworking, and willing to respond quickly to maintenance needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an on-site maintenance team.
• Willingness to work additional hours when property or resident needs require it.
• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.

Pay
 $21.00-$22.00 per hour

Schedule
 Full Time | Monday-Friday | 8:00am-4:00pm
