Role Description
NewSouth NeuroSpine is seeking a fellowship-trained Neurosurgeon with a passion for treating cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders. As Mississippi's leading physician-owned comprehensive spine center, our multidisciplinary team provides coordinated conservative and surgical spine care through close collaboration with spinal intervention and pain management specialists, advanced practice providers, and physical therapists.
This full-time, on-site opportunity offers the chance to build a thriving spine practice within one of the region's most respected physician-owned multidisciplinary spine centers. The Neurosurgeon will evaluate and treat patients with complex spine and neurologic conditions, develop individualized treatment plans, perform elective and urgent spine procedures, and provide comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care. While the primary focus is spine surgery, the role may also include cranial neurosurgical procedures based on the physician's experience and interests.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care
- Perform elective and urgent spine surgery
- Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver coordinated spine care
- Participate on multidisciplinary case conferences
- Build referral relationships
- Maintain quality documentation
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Successful completion of an accredited Neurosurgery residency program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery.
- Current Mississippi medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Mississippi.
- Demonstrated expertise in the evaluation and treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders.
- Experience managing both surgical and non-surgical spine conditions using evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care through collaboration, communication, and shared decision-making.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, referring providers, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous professional development.
- Willingness to participate in hospital call coverage, multidisciplinary case conferences, and practice growth initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in Spine Surgery or a related spine-focused subspecialty.
- Interest or experience in motion-preserving spine technologies and advanced surgical techniques.
- Experience practicing within a multidisciplinary spine center alongside pain management, spinal intervention, rehabilitation, and physical therapy specialists.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate referral relationships and contribute to practice growth and community outreach.
- Interest in mentoring advanced practice providers, participating in physician leadership initiatives, and helping shape the future growth of a physician-owned spine practice.
