Job Description

Member is bed-bound and needs hands-on caregiving support throughout the shift. Assistance is needed with incontinence care, frequent comfort checks, and maintaining cleanliness and dignity. Member has significant mobility limitations and is unable to walk, so caregiver must be comfortable providing safe repositioning, helping prevent skin breakdown, and supporting comfort in bed. Member also has limited range of motion and weakness in arms/hands, so caregiver should be patient and skilled with hands-on assistance for daily tasks that require reaching, gripping, or fine motor movement. Ideal caregiver is dependable, gentle, attentive to detail, and confident assisting with personal care for a bed-bound adult in a respectful, professional manner.

Required Duties (Texas STAR+PLUS Caregiver Requirements)

Personal Care / ADLs: Bathing (bed bath as needed), grooming, dressing assistance, toileting/incontinence care, skin care, and hygiene support.
Mobility & Safety Support: Repositioning in bed, comfort checks, assistance with transfers if applicable, and maintaining a safe, clutter-free environment.
Meal Support: Meal preparation, light cooking, and assistance with feeding setup as needed (based on member’s ability).
Light Housekeeping (Care-Related): Tidying the care area, changing linens, laundry related to the member, cleaning dishes used during shift, and maintaining sanitary conditions.
Observation & Reporting: Monitor for changes in condition, document care tasks per agency guidelines, and communicate concerns promptly to the agency/family.
