SMD - Head of Agency Asset Management

The Senior Managing Director, Head of Agency Asset Management, is responsible for leading a team of asset management employees and functions for all Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (“Agency”) and FHA asset management. This Leadership position will help to shape the future direction and strategic vision for the department. The Head of Asset Management will have the opportunity to build and lead teams of asset managers engaged in monitoring loan and property performance and managing and reporting on risk. The Head of Agency Asset Management will have responsibility for the oversight and support of NewPoint Real Estate Capital’s Agency Conventional & Affordable Housing loans.

Duties and responsibilities

• Assume leadership role in the Agency and FHA Asset Management department and contribute to the growth and future direction of NewPoint’s growing businesses
• Build effective teams capable of analyzing, managing, and reporting risks and working effectively with business partners to meet investor needs
• Develop strong relationships and build credibility with critical stakeholders inside and outside NewPoint – including borrowers, direct investors, rating agencies, sponsors, and bond investors
• Help lead the implementation of an asset management system, which is a critical priority
• Manage associates and their work on a day-to-day basis. Schedule workflow so that all tasks are accomplished, and issues resolved in a timely and efficient manner, and in compliance with policies and procedures and relevant loan documents
• Lead and develop the asset management team, to include hiring, training and development
• Providing employee feedback on a real-time basis. Work across the organization to define and implement best practices, with an ongoing focus on improving processes and procedures as opportunities arise
• Ensure that borrower requests are met on a timely basis, and that required documents and reports are submitted correctly and timely
• Participate in the development and ongoing compliance with Key Performance Indicators
• Manage and continuously evaluate outsourcing relationships
• Lead and participate in servicing projects, as necessary
• Other reasonable tasks and services in connection with your position

Qualifications

• BBA in Finance, Real Estate or Accounting preferred, MBA a plus
• At least 15 years of loan asset management experience including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, commercial real estate loan servicing for multiple capital sources/investors experience a plus
• Working knowledge of commercial real estate finance including a solid understanding of multifamily lending products and investment strategies
• Knowledge of all aspects of commercial mortgage loan oversight, preferably in a cross-functional team environment, including but not limited to
• Loan documents, including covenants and triggers
• Property financial statement and rent roll analysis
• Property inspections and subsequent repairs
• Construction/renovation loan monitoring and physical risk management
• Strong leadership, management, and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
• Accuracy oriented with a sense of urgency and strong focus on customer service
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a cross-functional team
• Development of and management to Key Performance Indicators
• Working knowledge of Enterprise! (or similar large scale servicing system)
