Job Summary:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks to support the smooth and efficient operation of our warehouse facility. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment, in alignment with company values and Health & Safety standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues in manufacturing or production equipment. Key responsibilities include maintaining and repairing essential plant systems such as conveyors, stacker cranes, ammonia refrigeration units, oxygen reduction systems, pallet handling equipment, fire protection systems, automatic loading/unloading carriers, and dock doors and levelers, among other mechanical systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and timely repairs on equipment to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations.
Maintain a wide range of systems in accordance with supplier and manufacturer guidelines, including conveyors, stacker cranes, ammonia refrigeration units (evaporators and condensers), fire protection systems, freezer doors, pallet-handling equipment, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), dock doors, and other mechanical components.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues to restore functionality efficiently.
Respond promptly to maintenance calls and work orders, providing support to operations with a solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to share knowledge.
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools (e.g., milling machines, grinders, drills) to fabricate or repair components as needed.
Operate cutting torches and welding equipment to perform fabrication or structural repairs.
Monitor and maintain compliance with all elements of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
Report and document maintenance activities, issues, and resolutions through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Follow standardized work instructions and ensure all tasks are completed accurately and to company standards.
Ensure all actions adhere to OSHA, FSDA, and internal safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Work a flexible schedule as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support business operations.
Demonstrate a commitment to a “Safety First” culture by modeling safe behaviors and practices.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal guidance, using intermediate-level diagnostic methodologies.
Strong understanding of PLC systems, including the ability to read and interpret schematics and perform system tracing.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and replace components as necessary.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, as well as fabrication equipment, including welding and cutting tools.
Ability to accurately perform routine and repetitive tasks following work instructions and meet or exceed quality and safety standards.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to track and report on maintenance activities effectively.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred 2-5 years of experience in a storage distribution/production manufacturing/industrial maintenance environment operating, repairing and/or troubleshooting issues on conveyance systems and other material handling equipment
Previous experience in a combination of the following systems: Pumps, Mechanical Drives, Lubrication, Fasteners, Piping, Proper Tool Use, Motors, Pneumatics, Sensors, Proximity Switches, Automatic Valves and other basic mechanical systems and processes
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including low-voltage, high-voltage 480V, and 3-phase motors
Valid Driver’s License is Required
Physical Requirements:
Must be in good physical condition
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Must be able to work effectively in -5 freezer environment
Must be able to climb 120ft ladder using safety harness
On occasion, they will be required to wear a SCBA while working, requiring employees to be clean shaven.
In compliance with OSHA regulations and manufacturer safety specifications, fall protection equipment rated for a maximum capacity of 310 lbs (including body weight, cold gear, 30 lbs SCBA pack, and tools) must be used for tasks performed at height.
