What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher Long-Term Substitute position at Newbury Elementary?
Newbury Elementary School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to serve as case manager for students in support of their IEP goals within an inclusive setting. Experience with and/or a willingness to participate in training of a co-teaching/collaborative teaching model preferred. This position is anticipated to cover September-December 2026.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Crafting and delivering tailored instruction and resources to cater to the diverse learning needs of our students, which may include those with intricate learning profiles.
- Conducting assessments for special education, drafting comprehensive evaluation reports, and meticulously devising and executing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within designated timeframes.
- Providing guidance to instructional assistants in implementing educational strategies for assigned students.
- Fostering effective communication channels among instructional team members, parents, faculty, and administration to ensure cohesive support for our students.
- Consistently monitoring and documenting students' progress toward meeting their IEP objectives.
- The candidate should value building positive relationships with students and families.
The ideal candidate will exhibit:
- Proficiency in Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the utilization of data-driven instructional approaches.
- Strong collaborative skills and a commitment to teamwork.
- Prior experience in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans is advantageous.
- Possession of MA Educator's Licensure (or equivalent) as a Teacher of Students with Moderate or Severe Disabilities is a necessity.
