Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems -Eaglesoft.
- Schedule appointments accurately while coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing excellent customer service and directing calls appropriately.
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient information, and review documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with billing procedures including medical collection efforts, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing documentation review.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Handle intake procedures for new patients, including collecting medical history forms and explaining clinic policies related to health information management.
- Ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, dental coding and medical billing procedures.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Athenahealth; familiarity with EMR systems is essential.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), data entry accuracy, and multi-line phone system operation.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and documentation review processes. This position has the possibility of transition to full-time if candidate is qualified and desires more hours. Currently hours are Monday to Thursday 7:45am - 1:00pm.
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
