Sr Software Engineer

Join Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) as a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate complex software functions for enterprise healthcare systems. You will act as a technical authority and program team leader, driving architecture, hands-on development, and platform customization for Medicaid & Medicare payer operations.

Key Responsibilities
Lead software architecture, requirements gathering, design, and hands-on coding for healthcare products
Build and maintain .NET/C# applications, SQL databases, and RESTful APIs
Design, develop, and optimize data integration & reporting using SSIS & SSRS
Configure, customize, and support the QNXT healthcare administration platform (claims, billing, enrollment, care management)
Drive feature definition, verification & validation, testing, certification, and customer support
Provide technical leadership, balance development demand vs. capacity, and align engineering priorities with business goals
Ensure strong SDLC adherence, software configuration/change management, and analytics-driven delivery
Operate independently with minimal supervision; proactively identify and resolve technical/process gaps

Required Qualifications
10 years of experience in software architecture, requirements, design, and coding within healthcare products
Strong hands-on expertise in .NET/C#, SQL, RESTful APIs, SSIS, and SSRS
Direct, hands-on experience with QNXT (Cognizant-developed payer admin platform for Medicaid/Medicare)
Deep understanding of SDLC, configuration/change management, and data analytics
Business-oriented development mindset with ability to prioritize based on demand vs. capacity
Excellent communication, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)

Healthcare EDI experience (X12 837/835/270/271, etc.)
Recent payer-side healthcare industry experience
