We are seeking a highly experienced Senior OT Network Architect to lead the design and modernization of enterprise Operational Technology (OT) networks for a large-scale utility/critical infrastructure environment.
This is a hands-on architecture role focused on designing secure, resilient, and scalable OT network infrastructures using SD-WAN, segmentation, and industrial networking best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement segmented OT network architectures transitioning from flat Layer 2 networks to SD-WAN-enabled environments
- Develop enterprise WAN and SD-WAN architectures including underlay/overlay design, QoS, resiliency, and path optimization
- Define network segmentation strategies using ISA/IEC 62443 zone and conduit models
- Design resilient ring topologies and high-availability network solutions across substations and OT sites
- Architect secure OT environments with firewall zoning, micro-segmentation, and least-privilege access controls
- Support deployment and integration of SD-WAN solutions with existing industrial switching infrastructure
- Conduct OT network risk assessments and support compliance initiatives including NERC CIP
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation for OT network issues
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams to drive network modernization initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in enterprise network architecture and design
- Strong hands-on experience designing SD-WAN architectures
- Deep expertise in routing, switching, WAN, and network segmentation
- Experience working in OT/ICS/SCADA environments
- Background in utilities, power generation, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environments strongly preferred
- Experience with industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP, or IEC 61850
- Strong understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and IT/OT convergence
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies required
- Extreme Networks experience is a strong plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Certifications
- CCNA / CCNP required
- CCIE preferred
- Security certifications are a plus
Additional Requirements
- Must be local to Manassas, VA or willing to relocate
- Must be able to work onsite daily
- Must be willing to attend an in-person final interview
