Want a secure career where your work truly matters? The New York State Unified Court System is now accepting registrations for the upcoming Court Officer Trainee Exam now through May 14, 2026. We’re especially encouraging North Country residents who want to build long-term opportunity in public service to register! The exam will be held throughout New York State from Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

As a Court Officer-Trainee, you will participate in a structured training program that prepares you to maintain security and order in court facilities. Duties include screening visitors, enforcing court rules, maintaining order in courtrooms, and responding to emergencies. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of judges, staff, and the public while upholding the integrity of the judicial process.

New York State Court Officer-Trainees, at time of appointment to the position*, must be:

• At least 20.5 years old
• A high school graduate or equivalent
• A United States Citizen
• A resident of New York State
• Valid New York State Driver’s License
• Legally eligible to purchase and carry firearms

Base Salary: $58,100

There will be an additional $4,920 in location pay for those working in NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester & Rockland, and an additional $2,460 in location pay for those working in Orange, Dutchess & Putnam.
