What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Attorney - New York City Criminal Court position at New York State Unified Court System?
The New York City Criminal Court is recruiting for two (2) positions in the Court Attorney Series. The position will be filled in any of the following titles and will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant selected: Associate Court Attorney, Senior Court Attorney, or Court Attorney. This position is assigned to a pool of judges in New York City Criminal Court.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching and analyzing legal questions and issues.
- Conferring with and advising judge on legal issues.
- Writing confidential legal memoranda and recommending decisions.
- Drafting confidential opinions, decisions, orders, and correspondence.
- Arranging and conducting conferences with litigants and other parties to action.
Qualifications:
- Associate Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Five (5) years of relevant legal experience, including up to 18 months of pre‑admission experience. Salary: $123,228 $4,920 location pay.
- Senior Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Two (2) years of relevant legal experience, including up to 18 months of pre‑admission experience. Salary: $99,490 $4,920 location pay.
- Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar; or Graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar within eighteen (18) months of appointment. Salary: $84,659 $4,920 location pay.
