What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAR Mentor - Support & Treatment for Adolescent Recovery position at New River Valley Community Services?
New River Valley Community Services is seeking a STAR Mentor for Support & Treatment for Adolescent Recovery! The STAR Mentor is a community-based position that provides behavioral management support, social skills development, supervision, crisis support, transportation and family support in individual and group settings in the NRV. The mentor position is an evidence based position that is grounded in the adolescent community reinforcement approach (ACRA). The role assists with addressing substance use in the identified individual using a person-centered and systematic approach. This approach will also address concerns related to parenting for both biological and/or foster parents, caregivers, as well as natural and paid supports system wide. The STAR Mentor serves individuals between the ages of 12 to 21 who have received a referral for treatment of Substance Use by the juvenile justice, behavioral health, school or child welfare systems. This will be accomplished by relationship-building between the mentor and individuals served as well as the individuals' stakeholders.
Position is 30 Hours Full-Time
Starting Hourly Rate: $16.26-Depending on Experience
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, or a related field and at least one year experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health and/or substance abuse preferred. Experience working with adults, children, and families is preferred.
Additional compensation will be considered for any new employees who speak multiple languages.
