The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

Why does the job exist?
The job of a Registered Nurse provides ongoing clinical care and oversight for residents with in the Residential Treatment Program, a Division of NMBHI. The responsibilities include, assessing resident health, administering medications and treatments, coordinating care plans, supervising nursing staff and communicating with physicians and the treatment team. The role focuses on continuity of care, patient safety, and the maintenance of residents' overall health, and comfort while receiving care at the residential treatment program.
How does it get done?
Provides routine registered nursing care, orientation and training to nursing personnel. Completes nursing history and initial assessment on all patients admitted. May initiate discharge paperwork for planned admissions and ensure clients' belongings are collected. May review and co-sign Orders on all patients.

Ideal Candidate
Experience in assisting people with activities of daily living. Experience working in healthcare.
Monitoring and assessing the health status of individuals. Planning the nursing care of individuals.
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess a valid Drivers License
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate
