About the Position
New Garden Township, Chester County, PA, is seeking an experienced professional to join the Township's Community Development & Safety Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Community Development & Safety and serves the primary function of performing building inspections (residential and commercial), and supports zoning, land development, and permit reviews, under the direction of the Director of Community Development & Safety. The position requires strong project management, process improvement, technology proficiency, and communication skills.
This position will facilitate daily management of the following areas: residential and commercial building inspection and permit activities, and support of zoning and land development application reviews. The position also collaborates and coordinates with other department staff, consultants, engineers, and attorneys, as well as provides excellent customer service to the public.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Planning / Zoning, or a related field with at least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience within a local government organization.
- Previous public or private sector residential and commercial building inspection experience will be considered highly desirable in lieu of a degree.
- PA UCC certification(s) required.
- Experience with Residential / Commercial construction, permitting, and inspections is highly desirable.
- Experience PA Municipal Planning Code is highly desirable
- PA Certified Building Official (BCO) is highly desirable.
- PA Certified Zoning Official (CZO) is highly desirable.
- Bilingual (Spanish) speaking ability is highly desirable.
The expected salary hiring range is $75,000 - $85,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
