NCS is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Technician specializing in fiber splicing and termination to support local commercial, industrial, telecommunications, and data center projects in the Houston area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic installations, testing, troubleshooting, splicing, and connector termination. Experience terminating Anaerobic Fiber Connectors is required and non-negotiable.
The Fiber Optic Technician will be responsible for ensuring all fiber installations meet industry standards, customer specifications, and quality expectations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
- Terminate fiber optic cables using LC, SC, ST, and MPO/MTP connectors.
- Perform termination of Anaerobic Fiber Connectors (Required).
- Install, route, secure, and dress fiber optic cabling in commercial and industrial environments.
- Conduct fiber testing using OTDRs, light source and power meters, and fiber certification equipment.
- Troubleshoot fiber optic systems, signal loss, and connectivity issues.
- Install and terminate fiber enclosures, patch panels, splice trays, and fiber distribution frames.
- Read and interpret blueprints, splice diagrams, cable schedules, and project specifications.
- Label, document, and maintain accurate test results and project records.
- Complete punch-list items and quality control inspections.
- Follow all company safety policies and customer site requirements.
- Maintain company tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of fiber optic installation experience.
- Minimum 2 years of fusion splicing experience.
- Hands-on experience terminating Anaerobic Fiber Connectors is required.
- Experience with both single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems.
- Proficiency using OTDRs, fiber certification testers, and power meters.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI certification or fiber optic certification.
- Experience working in data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, or commercial construction environments.
- Knowledge of TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
- Experience with MPO/MTP fiber systems.
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
