Job Title: Systems Administrator II

Location: Petersburg, VA 23805

Duration: 3 months

Pay rate : $33-35/hr. on w2

Job Description:

Assist in server operations, resolving customer issues for Unix/Linux based environments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in daily server operations for Unix/Linux systems, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
• Monitor system alerts, logs, and dashboards to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Respond to and troubleshoot customer-reported incidents related to Unix/Linux environments.
• Perform system updates, patching, and routine maintenance on servers and related infrastructure.
• Support configuration, installation, and deployment of server hardware and software.
• Maintain user accounts, permissions, and security controls in accordance with company policies.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues.
• Document procedures, incident resolutions, and configuration changes for knowledge sharing.
• Assist in backup and recovery processes and participate in disaster recovery activities as needed.
• Ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) for incident response and resolution.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as required.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, AIX, etc.).
• Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash, Korn, Python is a plus).
• Knowledge of system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
• Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and customer-service mindset.
