Job Title: Technical Associate – R&D
Location: Wilmington, DE
Duration: 12 Months contract (Annual Renewal)
Shift: Monday–Friday, approximately 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
Training: Day shift (~8:30 AM–5:00 PM) for the first 3 months before transitioning to second shift.
Description:
We are seeking a Technical Associate to support R&D, Technical Service & Development, and Manufacturing through operation of a ToF-SIMS (Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) instrument.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate ToF-SIMS for surface analysis, chemical imaging, and depth profiling.
- Prepare and handle wafers, films, coatings, powders, and other materials.
- Perform sample mounting, loading, vacuum operation, beam tuning, and data acquisition.
- Document sample information, experimental conditions, and analytical results.
- Prepare analysis summaries and contribute to technical reports.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and laboratory housekeeping.
- Follow chemical handling, waste disposal, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Coordinate with first-shift scientists/operators to maintain workflow continuity.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with ToF-SIMS, SIMS, mass spectrometry, surface analysis, spectroscopy, or high-vacuum instrumentation preferred.
- Strong sample preparation and handling skills, particularly with wafers, thin films, and coatings.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
