Job Title: Technical Associate – R&D
Location: Wilmington, DE
Duration: 12 Months contract (Annual Renewal)
Shift: Monday–Friday, approximately 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
Training: Day shift (~8:30 AM–5:00 PM) for the first 3 months before transitioning to second shift.
Description:
We are seeking a Technical Associate to support R&D, Technical Service & Development, and Manufacturing through operation of a FIB-SEM (Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscope).
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate FIB-SEM for imaging, cross-sectioning, and materials characterization.
- Perform EDS and EBSD analysis and assess basic data quality.
- Prepare samples using polishing, sputter/plasma coating, FIB milling, and lift-out techniques.
- Review, organize, and document analytical data for technical reports.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and laboratory housekeeping.
- Follow chemical handling, waste disposal, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Coordinate activities with first-shift operators and scientists.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with electron microscopy, SEM/FIB, EDS, or EBSD preferred.
- Laboratory sample preparation and chemical handling experience.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
