What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Plant Support position at Nelson Global Products, Inc?
Primary Responsibilities
***This is a temporary position lasting approximately 3-4 months: May to August***
Material Moving & Organization
- Move tools, materials, equipment, and supplies between designated shop areas as directed
- Assist with reorganizing storage areas to improve accessibility and cleanliness
- Use basic material-handling equipment (carts, dollies, pallet jacks) safely and appropriately
- Group and stage items by category, department, or disposition status (keep, move, discard)
Resource Tag Validation & Tracking
- Verify existing resource tags, ID numbers, or labels on equipment and materials
- Identify missing, damaged, or illegible tags and report discrepancies to the supervisor
- Assist in applying or updating resource tags under direction (if applicable)
- Document movement, relocation, or removal of tagged items as instructed
Disposal & Clean-Out Activities
- Assist with sorting items for retention, relocation, recycling, or disposal
- Dispose of materials only after receiving supervisor approval
- Follow company procedures for scrap, recycling, and waste removal
- Transport approved items to dumpsters, scrap areas, or recycling locations
Cleaning & Area Maintenance
- Clean workspaces, storage areas, shelves, and floors after items are moved
- Perform basic shop housekeeping tasks (sweeping, wiping surfaces, removing debris)
- Maintain a safe, organized work area throughout the project
- Immediately report hazards, spills, or unsafe conditions
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all shop safety rules, PPE requirements, and lifting guidelines
- Use tools and equipment only as trained or instructed
- Ask for guidance after moving unfamiliar, heavy, or sensitive items
- Comply with all company policies regarding safety, conduct, and confidentiality
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In terms of a normal workday: Continuously (up to 100%), Frequently (up to 66%), Occasionally (up to 33%),
- Continuously standing or walking for 10-hour shift.
- Frequently bend, twist, stoop to remove materials and lift to work area.
- Frequently load parts into work area and complete baskets without damaging the part.
- Frequently push/pull
- Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
- Occasionally squat or kneel.
- Occasionally sitting
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to maintain concentration during repetitive operations and inspection tasks.
- Ability to recall and apply safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards consistently.
- Ability to problem-solve routine production and equipment issues using established procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Ability to work under production deadlines and adapt to changing priorities or assignments.
- Ability to make timely decisions on part acceptance/rejection and escalate issues appropriately
