Service Advisor / Acquisition Specialist

Nelson Auto, a family-owned dealership serving Minnesota and North Dakota communities, is looking for a customer-focused Service Advisor / Acquisition Specialist to join our service team.

The Service Advisor plays a vital role in dealership operations by acting as the primary connection between customers and technicians. In this fast-paced, people-focused position, you will help customers understand their vehicle service needs, coordinate repair schedules, and ensure work moves efficiently through the shop. The Acquisition Specialist role is a vital component in acquiring top quality per-owned vehicles for inventory via our service drive customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and listen carefully to vehicle concerns and service needs
• Schedule service appointments and manage daily shop workflow
• Communicate repair recommendations, timelines, and costs clearly to customers
• Serve as the liaison between technicians and customers
• Monitor repair progress to ensure efficient turnaround times
• Review completed work with customers and explain services performed
• Collaborate with service and dealership leadership to maintain smooth operations
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience from check-in through vehicle pickup
• Provide an acquisition appraisal for service customers while in our service lane
• Work closely with the sales department to achieve the correct mix of inventory desired for resale.

Qualifications

• Previous Service Advisor, automotive technician, or customer service experience preferred (not required)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Basic understanding of automotive systems or willingness to learn
• Professional, team-oriented attitude
• Computer proficiency and ability to learn dealership software systems
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
