Payroll and Benefits Specialist

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to manage payroll processing and employee benefits administration across our dealership group. This role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex payroll systems and multi-state compliance requirements. Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees across multiple dealership locations
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, commissions, and variable pay components
• Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, 401(k), and other offerings
• Coordinate open enrollment, new hire benefits setup, and life event changes
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in HRIS and payroll systems
• Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, and reconciliations for accounting
• Support annual processes including W-2 preparation, 401(k) audits, and ACA reporting
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll processing experience required; multi-state payroll experience preferred
• Experience with payroll software (ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar) required
• Familiarity with benefits administration and open enrollment processes
• Strong understanding of payroll tax compliance and wage and hour laws
• High degree of accuracy and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Dealership payroll experience a plus
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR, or Business preferred
