Neel-Schaffer has an opportunity for a GIS Technician to join our growing firm. This position can be based in our Jackson, Hattiesburg, Laurel and surrounding Metro Jackson (MS) area offices as the role may require travel periodically.
While not preferred, working remotely fulltime is a possibility.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience producing high quality maps, reports, and exhibits while executing GIS workflows to support planning projects through analysis and internal tools. Additionally, the GIS Technician has strong data management experience and the ability to assist in GIS ecosystem management. As a highly motivated individual looking for career growth, you will be a part of the team and will assist other teams as project and client demands dictate.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or general education degree (GED); GIS or engineering technology degree preferred.
3+ years minimum experience in engineering technician work or GIS.
Proficiency using GIS software such ESRI, QGIS, other related technology.
Solid understanding of integrated GPS and GIS principles.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of basic programming language such as Python.
Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
Valid driver’s license.
