Position Overview
The Business Operations Manager serves as a key onsite leader responsible for supporting the day-to-day business and operational activities of the Northeast Energy Center. This position is highly cross-functional and is intended for someone who can keep priorities moving, coordinate across internal teams and external partners, and provide strong onsite support for projects, vendors, contractors, and daily operational needs.
The Site Operations Manager will serve as a central point of coordination for site activity, helping to ensure that projects, vendor work, plant support activities, and general business operations are organized, communicated, and followed through to completion. This role requires strong leadership presence, sound judgment, excellent follow-up, and the ability to solve problems quickly and professionally in a fast-moving environment.
Core Responsibilities
Site Operations and Daily Coordination
· Serve as a key onsite resource supporting the day-to-day operational and business needs of the facility.
· Coordinate daily site activity, helping ensure priorities are organized, communicated, and moving forward.
· Act as a central point of contact for onsite vendors, contractors, visitors, and internal stakeholders.
· Maintain visibility into open items, site issues, and ongoing needs, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
· Support site leadership in keeping day-to-day operations organized, responsive, and well coordinated.
Project Coordination and Execution Support
· Support and coordinate site projects from planning through execution, including scheduling, logistics, action-item tracking, and follow-up.
· Help manage contractor and vendor interfaces to support safe, timely, and efficient project execution.
· Coordinate site walkthroughs, vendor visits, delivery schedules, and related logistics.
· Track project milestones, open issues, and deadlines, and escalate concerns when needed.
· Partner with leadership to help ensure projects stay aligned with site priorities, timing, and operational needs.
Vendor and Contractor Management
· Manage day-to-day coordination with vendors, contractors, and service providers supporting the site.
· Support quote collection, scope coordination, scheduling, and communication with external partners.
· Help ensure vendors understand site requirements, expectations, and access protocols before arriving onsite.
· Maintain strong working relationships with vendors and service providers to support responsiveness and accountability.
· Identify and help resolve vendor-related issues, scheduling conflicts, and execution gaps.
Procurement and Business Support
· Support site procurement activities, including coordination of quotes, vendor follow-up, purchase support, and tracking of business needs.
· Help organize and monitor operational purchases, project-related materials, and service-related needs.
· Partner with site leadership to help prioritize purchasing and contractor support needs tied to operations and projects.
· Ensure business and project support activities are followed through accurately and efficiently.
Communication, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement
· Facilitate clear communication across site leadership, operations, vendors, and project stakeholders.
· Proactively identify gaps, roadblocks, and inefficiencies, and help develop practical solutions.
· Support process improvement efforts that improve organization, responsiveness, and execution across the site.
· Bring a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach to resolving issues and managing competing priorities.
· Help create structure and follow-through across a wide range of onsite operational and project-related activities.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, operations, project management, engineering technology, construction management, or a related field.
• Relevant equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in site operations, business operations, facilities support, project coordination, contractor/vendor management, or a similar role.
• Experience working in an industrial, plant, energy, manufacturing, construction, or similarly fast-paced operational environment preferred.
• Demonstrated success coordinating multiple priorities and supporting day-to-day onsite execution.
Licenses/Certifications:
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
• OSHA, project coordination, or related operational certifications are a plus.

Working Environment
· Primarily onsite at the NEC facility in Charlton, Massachusetts. (Minimum 3 days per week onsite)
· Frequent interaction with plant personnel, vendors, contractors, and site leadership.
· Requires the ability to walk the site, support field coordination, and manage work in an active plant environment.
· Periodic extended hours may be required depending on project schedules, vendor work, or operational needs.
