What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Operations & Maintenance Technician position at NEC LNG?
The Associate Operations & Maintenance Technician supports safe and efficient LNG plant operations with a primary focus on truck loading and routine plant support activities. This is a developmental role intended to provide dedicated truck loading coverage while assisting with operational checks, housekeeping, logistics support, and other assigned plant duties. During periods of reduced truck loading activity, the Assoc O&M may receive training and cross-functional exposure in Operations, Instrumentation & Electrical, & Mechanical disciplines under the direction of plant leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely load LNG trucks in accordance with site procedures, operating requirements, and safety standards.
- Perform pre-load and post-load checks on trucks, hoses, connections, and associated equipment.
- Monitor truck loading operations and promptly report abnormal conditions, alarms, leaks, or equipment concerns to supervision.
- Complete required load documentation, logs, checklists, and operational records accurately and on time.
- Perform routine rounds, visual inspections, and equipment readings as assigned.
- Support basic plant operations during liquefaction, trucking, and standby activities under the direction of O&M leadership.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness in loading areas, operating spaces, shop areas, and assigned work zones.
- Provide general logistics and facility support, including groundskeeping, grass cutting, weeding, snow removal, stone maintenance, material movement, housekeeping, and other plant support activities as assigned.
- Assist O&M Technicians and other plant personnel with routine inspections, preventive maintenance support, and basic operational tasks.
- Participate in on-the-job training and skill development in plant disciplines including Operations, Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical, and Mechanical, as assigned.
- Follow all environmental, health, safety, and operating procedures.
- Use required personal protective equipment and work safely in a hazardous industrial environment.
- Participate in required training, safety meetings, drills, and qualification activities.
- Support emergency response activities in accordance with site procedures and training level.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated platforms.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, fire-resistant clothing, and other required gear.
- Ability to safely work in and around hazardous industrial equipment and environments.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the O&M Lead or other designated plant leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior industrial, plant, terminal, warehouse, mechanical, utility, or truck loading experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn required.
- Ability to understand and follow written procedures, checklists, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to complete logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, operators, drivers, contractors, and other team members.
- Willingness to learn plant operations, equipment, and safe work practices.
- Ability to develop skills across multiple plant disciplines over time.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks after training.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
Work Schedule
- Ability to work a 12-hour early day shift rotating schedule –2am to 2pm (hours may vary)
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and call-in support as required by business needs.
