This position reports to: Director of Rainbow Bridge                                                                     

Schedule: The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.  

Purpose of Position:  To provide transportation of deceased pets for cremations. Deliver ashes of pets to area veterinary clinics with care and compassion. We are looking for a qualified individual who is dedicated to treating all pets with respect and dignity. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Transport deceased pets from area veterinary clinics to the Nebraska Humane Society for cremation service.
• Schedule transport of deceased animals with area veterinary clinics.
• Deliver pet’s ashes to area participating veterinary clinics.
• Provide quality customer service and interact professionally and compassionately with local veterinary staff.
• Complete paperwork and maintain logs of transported deceased pets accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work as a team to exceed client expectations.

Position Qualifications: Education, Experience, Certification, and Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required     

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. 
• Must have a good knowledge of city streets - including Douglas and Sarpy County and surrounding Iowa area.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and compassionately. 
• Must be detailed-oriented.
• Must be able to work cordially, safely, and efficiently in fast-paced, stressful conditions.
• Maturity, good judgment, professional manner, and professional appearance
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles as necessary.
• Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Customer service experience.

Desired     

• Experience in a veterinary clinic, animal welfare field or pet crematory/funeral home preferred but not required.

Work Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. • Minimum 40 hours per week.
• The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet, though barking or whining of animals may be escalated at certain times in certain areas of the building. In addition, some noise from near machinery may be heard.
• Temperatures in the shelter environment are varied, though usually moderate, and dependent on the season. 
• Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals.
