The Fabricator will perform a wide range of duties within the plant to produce fabricated steel products including, but not limited to, cutting, bending and tying steel bars. Duties:
- Shake bars out on shear table
- Tie bundles
- Assist in moving long bars and stacking bundles
- Assist with moving and positioning bars for special end preparations
- Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths
- Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape
- Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped
- Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes
- Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping
- Maintain the shop/designated area in a clean and safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and have an eye for detail
- General welding experience (MIG only) weld and reinforce rebar
- Good attendance and positive attitude a must
- Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment as necessary
- Ability to stand 8 hours
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Bending, squatting, crouching, and twisting of the body is required daily
- Must be able to work efficiently in an indoor and outdoor environment year round
