Medical Services - Remote in North Dakota - School Services Liaison

As our School Services Liaison, you will play an important role in helping students access the services they need to succeed in school and learn alongside their peers in the classroom.
In this new position, you will help bridge the gap between the Medicaid system and the school setting by making sure Medicaid policies, services, and processes are well understood by schools and Medicaid is responsive to their needs. Your work will support North Dakota's mission of improving the lives of our residents and our vision of making North Dakota the healthiest state in the nation by helping ensure students can access critical support in a school-based setting.

In this role, you will support school systems in understanding which services Medicaid will cover and how to bill for those services appropriately. You will partner with local education agencies, regional education associations, the Department of Public Instruction, and other key partners to strengthen school staff knowledge of Medicaid policies and build capacity so eligible students receive the services they need. You will travel to schools across the state to provide training on Medicaid-covered services, offer technical assistance, and build strong working relationships with school staff and partners.

You will serve as a trusted resource by providing clear communication, practical training opportunities, and technical support related to North Dakota Medicaid policies and claims submission processes. You will also assist with North Dakota Medicaid State Plan Amendments that impact school-based services and help ensure schools and partners understand changes that affect their work. As the primary contact for the Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) Program, you will coordinate activities between MAC vendors and partners, support the analysis of time study information gathered from schools, and help ensure best practices are being followed.

To succeed in this position, you should be able to look at the big picture while also understanding how policy, process, and service delivery connect. You should be open to change, comfortable working in a developing program area, and able to approach challenges through an analytical lens. We are looking for someone who is excited about bringing this program to the next level and strengthening how school-based Medicaid services are delivered across North Dakota.

You should have experience, either professional or personal, working through the IEP process in a school setting or experience with other social services programs and understand the importance of collaboration in supporting student success. You will need to be a proactive self-starter who is not afraid to reach out to schools, build connections, and become a subject matter expert on policies and procedures. You should also be comfortable researching policy, identifying gaps, and looking for opportunities to strengthen understanding of Medicaid-covered services, enrollment, and claims submission processes.

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree in education, social work, political sciences or another Health and human services related degree AND three (3) years of experience working in a state or federal run social services programs or special education.

OR

A high school diploma or GED AND seven (7) years of work experience as specified above.

This is a meaningful opportunity to help shape a new position, build strong partnerships, and make a direct impact on students, schools, and communities across North Dakota. If you are passionate about improving access to services, supporting schools, and helping advance innovative, student-centered solutions, we encourage you to apply.
