Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Division of Student Affairs fosters students growth and development. The division aids, directs, and informs students about services and programs that will expand students’ educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities.
The purpose of the Transportation Department is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation options to students, faculty, and staff of NCCU to help reduce the university carbon footprint.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position is point of contact person when entering the Transportation Department. Answers transportation questions/issues that may derive from students/staff/faculty/administrators and visitors. This position has knowledge of the policies and standard operating procedures of the Transportation Department and is constantly on the phone answering questions/calls on a daily basis. Contacts service recipient’s vendors or clients to provide or obtain information. This position also provides administrative support for additional units within the division as expanded scope of duties. These extra duties are beyond her current competency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Communication- Verbal and Written
Office Technology, Problem Solving,
Knowledge – Program, Information/Records Administration, Budgeting
Minimum Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Prefer at least an Associate’s degree, with a focus in business, accounting, or management.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation

Required Competency Knowledge - Program Duties
- This position assists the Transportation Director with administrative support for various program processes. The position is also responsible for general office operations that include requisitioning of goods and services, processing contracting services, and office needs.
- This position will assist in budget development and monitoring for a budget totaling $925,793 ($400,000 in operating funds) to provide budgetary information to the Transportation Director. This includes establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures consistent with University and the State of North Carolina; accounting and auditing requirements and special project assignments given by the Transportation Director.
- This position is the primary contact for customers for the Transportation Department. This position will ensure compliance with university and departmental regulations on customer service.
- This position is responsible for primary vendor contact for the Transportation Director. This positions services as front line contact for appropriate research and resource for vendors questions and comments. This position also process vendor payments and requisitions for procurement.
- This position uses various software and hardware components such as Microsoft Office, all Banner Modules of Internet Native Banner (INB), and Student Services Banner.
