METRC
The Media and Education Technology Resource Center (METRC) provides technology and media resources in support of college faculty, students, and staff. METRC provides resources and services to facilitate the preparation of professional educators, counselors and administrators at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to model an exemplary school library media center. In addition to an extensive array of educational technology, METRC maintains a collection of K-12 literature and current state-adopted K12 textbooks. Services include professional development opportunities for both students and faculty and instruction/collaboration in literacy and instructional technology. The METRC space is a comfortable, inviting environment with individual and collaborative work and conferencing spaces. METRC has an open PC and Mac lab with access to Wolfcopy printers including a plotter (poster) printer as well as scanners, a SmartBoard, an Ellison die cutter, 3-D printers in a MakerSpace and more. Patrons can also check out cameras, audio equipment, laptops, tablets, maker-ed kits, robotics kits, etc. Instructors are invited and encouraged to work with professional METRC staff to co-teach lessons in instructional technology, literacy and utilization of METRC resources.

Essential Job Duties
This position serves as a Library Technician for the College of Education Media and Education Technology Resource Center (METRC). The Library Technician will independently provide direct service to library users (students, faculty, staff, and others) in-person and via telephone and email as well as asynchronously online, including resolution of clients’ problems and provision of basic content-based reference services. Services include serving as the primary contact for access, delivery, reference, and onsite technology troubleshooting services to faculty, students, researchers, and other users, primarily undergraduate students in programs to become licensed teachers, graduate students in varying fields of education and faculty teaching and researching in the field of education.
The Library Technician will work with physical and digital collections (books, journals, papers, etc.) including preparation, organization, evaluation, and maintenance. The work includes acquisition, control, and organization of information resources by finding, interpreting, and connecting relevant pieces of information in order to create, add, edit, and update records.
This position involves helping users explore and locate collections (print, online, equipment, etc.), borrow and return materials and use library services and spaces. The position will organize and maintain collections including print and digital resources, as well as equipment including video cameras, voice recorders, projectors, VR equipment, etc. The position will also collect and organize data on circulation, space and patron services. The Library Technician will use their technology expertise to assist patrons in accessing and using equipment in METRC and train other library staff in providing this service. This position will process course reserves as well as requested books for interlibrary loan and transit.
This position oversees general information and circulation services and will train, schedule and supervise student desk workers. This position independently resolves problems for clients and assists in ensuring the safety and security of people and materials, making exceptions to standard policies where needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
