Description Of Work

This Youth Program Education Assistant Lead II/ Preceptor, is located in Statewide Programs’ Meadowview Cottage of Murdoch Developmental Center. Meadowview Cottage provides specialized direct services to individuals with extreme behavioral challenges. The Behaviorally Advanced Residential Treatment (BART) program serves adult men and women (over the age of 18) from the Central Region of the state who have a developmental disability, demonstrate extreme and dangerous forms of aberrant behavior and who have a history of failed treatment placements and/or repeat criminal offenses. The BART program was created specifically for individuals who have been unsuccessful in developing and maintaining an effective, pro-social behavioral repertoire in other treatment settings. The primary function of this vacancy is to facilitate the training and development to all divisional staff. Further, the Preceptor assists in ensuring overall program quality and serves as the liaison staff member to the Staff Development Program. The Preceptor assists in coordinating the orientation of new employees to ensure that staff are properly introduced to Murdoch Developmental Center and that current policies/procedures are followed. The Preceptor conducts Quality Assurance monitoring, second shift/weekend monitoring, observing goals, mealtime observations, completion of divisional safety checks, review of division policies, and submit training reports to Staff Development.

ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences

Recruitment Range: $39,864.00 - $59,797.00

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience working with individuals with IDD and/or mental illness.
  • Valid driver's license.

Scheduled work hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday with one late night per week (11:30 AM - 8:00 PM). Hours vary at times depending on divisional training needs. Ibis may involve early AM to late PM on lst, 2nd, and/or 3rd shifts.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference

Minimum Education And Experience

Associate’s Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience

or

High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience

or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications As required by facility, CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care. **NA I/II not required for this position.**
