Description Of Work

This Administrative Associate II position is with the Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard

of Hearing and is located in the Raleigh Regional Center. This position is responsible for providing

a comfortable office environment for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind.

Job Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Responsible for training regarding in-house office procedures for new staff
  • Handles end of day closing processes for the regional center
  • Knowledge of the programs and operations of the division that are essential to appropriately route

visitors and callers

  • Responsible for logistics and taking minutes associated with meetings

The Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) assures equal access to

North Carolina citizens who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences

Recruitment Range: $28,194 - $38,767

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, including proficiency with TTY and video phone technologies to support accessible interactions.
  • Knowledge of programs and services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, with familiarity in the Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing and its statewide initiatives.
  • Experience working with individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss, demonstrating respectful engagement and a foundational understanding of communication needs; basic sign language skills are preferred, with a commitment to learning if not already acquired.
  • Strong administrative and office management abilities, including maintaining equipment and supplies, processing mail, managing filing systems, and coordinating appointments and meetings.
  • Skilled in professional documentation and event support, such as preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, creating calendars and flyers, drafting correspondence, and generating reports.

This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
