Job Title: Director of Total Rewards – Healthcare
Location: Remote (Candidates from state of Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas are encouraged to apply)
Duration: Contract (13 Weeks, with possible extension)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift
Job Summary
The Director of Benefits will provide senior-level leadership across the full spectrum of employee benefits programs. This role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on operational execution, supporting executive leadership while managing ongoing benefits initiatives, vendor relationships, and compliance in a complex organizational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive benefits programs.
- Align health, welfare, and financial benefits into a cohesive total rewards strategy.
- Partner with executive leadership to drive strategic decision-making related to benefits structure and cost optimization.
Health & Welfare Programs
- Oversee medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate and optimize health plan performance and employee experience.
Financial Benefits
- Administer retirement programs such as 401(k) and pension plans.
- Oversee financial wellness initiatives and deferred compensation programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
Annual Enrollment Management
- Lead end-to-end annual enrollment processes including:
- Communication strategy and employee engagement
- Benefits platform coordination
- Enrollment execution and administration
- Post-enrollment auditing and reconciliation
- Identify and implement improvements to enrollment processes.
RFP & Vendor Management
- Lead complex Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, including:
- Vendor selection strategy
- Evaluation frameworks
- Stakeholder alignment
- Contract negotiation and implementation
- Maintain strong relationships with external vendors and partners.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Present benefits strategies and updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Represent the benefits function in cross-functional leadership forums.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to internal teams as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing comprehensive benefits programs
- Proven experience in both health & welfare and financial benefits administration
- Strong leadership experience in complex or multi-entity organizations
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Annual enrollment lifecycle management
- Benefits compliance and governance
- Vendor and RFP management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Professional certifications such as:
- Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
- Experience in healthcare systems or large, complex organizations
