What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Project Manager position at Navigate Search?
Our client is a national low-voltage solutions provider — structured cabling, wireless, audio-visual, access control, and video surveillance. A four-time Inc. 5000 fast-growing private business, and a certified Women-Owned Small Business. They partner with leading technology brands to deliver Div 27/28 scope across ground-up new construction, large-scale renovations, and tenant improvements.
The Role: Lead and execute Div 27/28 low-voltage projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. Serve as primary point of contact for GCs, owners, consultants, and stakeholders from kickoff through closeout. Own end-to-end delivery — schedule, budget, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and job profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Div 27/28 projects: structured cabling (copper/fiber), pathways, IDF/MDF, wireless, AV, access control, video surveillance
- Manage internal field teams, foremen, technicians, and subcontractors
- Drive schedule, manpower planning, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions; identify scope gaps and risks early
- Coordinate multi-trade interfaces (electrical/grounding, pathways, sleeves, firestopping, telecom rooms)
- Manage submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and AHJ permitting/inspections
- Review BlueBeam takeoffs and BOMs; plan procurement around long-lead items
- Own job profitability — track labor, material, and equipment vs. budget; drive corrective action
- Manage change orders end-to-end (scope documentation, pricing, client approval, execution)
- Deliver closeout — punch lists, as-builts, copper/fiber test results, warranties, O&M documentation
Required Qualifications:
- 6 years (or 4 with strong new construction leadership) in low-voltage construction operations and/or PM, with hands-on Div 27/28 delivery experience
- Strong technical understanding of structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A, fiber), IDF/MDF buildouts, wireless infrastructure (WAP), AV infrastructure, access control, and video surveillance systems
- Proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously, including ground-up builds and large renovations
- Ability to interpret construction documents, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Strong budgeting and analytical skills — comfortable with Excel and job cost metrics
- Excellent communication — fast, clear, professional across email, text, phone, in-person
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel 30–50% nationally
- Procore, BlueBeam, or similar construction PM platforms
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent field experience)
