Estimator - Heavy Civil

We're looking for an experienced Estimator to join our client's Stockton office, taking real ownership of bid strategy on heavy civil and paving projects across Northern and Central California. You will contributor to scope interpretation, competitive pricing, and bid decisions that win work.

Salary: $98,000-$180,000 - open to mid or senior level estimator

What You'll Do

Estimating & Bid Preparation

• Prepare complete estimates for heavy civil, paving, site development, and underground projects
• Review specs and drawings to define scope; calculate full takeoffs using computer-aided estimating systems
• Estimate manpower, equipment, and materials; leverage historical data for unit and man-hour projections
• Coordinate with field teams to validate assumptions and schedule work

Bid Strategy & Coordination

• Drive subcontractor and supplier bid solicitation and review
• Maintain bid logs, estimating files, and records
• Contribute to estimating guidelines, manuals, and procedures

Cross-Functional & Post-Award

• Collaborate with PMs, project engineers, and operations leadership throughout the bid cycle
• Support smooth handoff to project execution teams after award

What You Bring:

Required

• Heavy civil, paving, or site development estimating experience
• Proficiency in computer-aided estimating tools (HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, Bid2Win, AGTEK, or similar)
• Bluebeam Revu for takeoffs; strong Excel and quantitative skills
• Ability to read civil drawings, specs, and geotech reports
• BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Valid driver's license; ability to pass pre-employment screening

Preferred:

• Caltrans or public works estimating experience (highly valued)
• Prevailing wage and DBE/DVBE compliance familiarity
• Established California heavy civil network — subs, suppliers, owners
• Working knowledge of Central Valley / Northern California market conditions
