NAVFAC Information Technology Center (NITC) is looking for a Junior Data Scientist with a strong interest in understanding and optimizing data products for business needs to join our team. In this role, you will focus on the functional aspects of AI and machine learning systems, acting as the critical link between model development and deployment. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the pipelines that feed and manage models, ensuring they run efficiently, and helping to automate the entire data to machine learning lifecycle (MLOps). This is a technical, hands-on role for someone who loves to build robust, repeatable systems.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze large datasets using statistical techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions and enhance business operations.
2. Sustain Data Pipelines: Use data science techniques to monitor and enhance data quality, integrity, and security throughout the entire data lifecycle.
3. Machine Learning and AI Implementation: Develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models and artificial intelligence systems using industry standards.
4. Continuous Learning and Improvement: Continuously research and integrate cutting-edge data science methodologies, algorithms, and technologies. Adapt and implement best practices to maintain a competitive edge in data science and AI.
5. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to identify data needs and provide actionable insights.
6. Optimize Data Processes: Evaluate and improve existing data workflows and processes to maximize efficiency, reduce latency, and support scalable data operations.
Additional Position Information:
We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Data Scientist with a strong background in data science and python/SQL/pyspark programming. The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to drive our organization towards industry standards.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science or related field, completed by start date
Federal Employment Requirements:
- US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
- Males registered or exempt from Selective Service www.sss.gov
- Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)
