Duties

Help

  • You will verify repairs and structural soundness of aircraft through blueprints and sketches.
  • You will operate hand or power machines (e.g., sliproll forming machines, box or pan brakes, shears, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, crimpers, beading machines) to accomplish maintenance or repair tasks.
  • You will disassemble, modify, repair, and assemble structural parts and aerodynamic surfaces on aircraft and aircraft components.
  • You will calculate and scribe patterns for the fabrication of metal parts to be used in conjunction with industrial equipment and components.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Working independently to make decisions, plan the sheet metal job, show job responsibility and exercising initiative. Working from technical directives, drawings, manuals and other written or verbal instructions and assist equivalent and lower-graded sheet metal mechanic aircraft employees. Removing fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft, disassembles structural and non-structural metal and composite componeents, repairs and reassembles same. Drilling prarts and rivets repairs or replacement together. Operating more complex hand and power machines, e.g., sliproll forming machines, box and pan breaks, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, and crimpers and beading machines. Completing operations by deburring, filing, drilling and smoothing parts by hand. Chemically treating surfaces reworked.
