Summary of Position
As a Manager, West Origination, you will be responsible for leading and driving NTEC’s origination activities in the West, generally including WECC and CAISO. This role will focus on maintaining, developing, and growing utility customer relationships with the ultimate objective of executing offtake agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for both new-build and existing assets, including natural gas and coal-fired generation. This role will also be responsible for developing and executing regional market strategies that align with NTEC’s broader commercial objectives. This position will report to the Senior Director Transmission & Power Markets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with utility customers, particularly at the transactional level.
- Develop marketing and sales strategies with objective of executing long-term structured Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for new and existing assets.
- Lead and support contract negotiations, for natural gas and coal generation offtake agreements, ensuring commercial strategies align with company risk management objectives.
- Collaborate with support staff to ensure broad customer engagement through RFP responses, bilateral sales and customized energy solutions.
- Coordinate with development, finance, engineering, and other departments to develop solutions and proposals for customers, including pricing, term sheets and deal models.
- Understand physical and financial heat rate deal structures, fuel clauses, fuel source availability, and competing product economics.
- Create strategies and business cases for new project development and repowering opportunities in collaboration with other teams.
- Maintain deep understanding and knowledge of power markets, transmission dynamics, and regulatory activities impacting customers and projects.
- Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations to management, customers, and stakeholders.
- Monitor competitive intelligence, including pricing trends, emerging technologies, and regional policy developments.
- Support long-term commercial strategy development for generation assets, portfolio optimization, and market positioning within the West.
- Build and maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline, tracking progress from origination through negotiation and execution.
- Represent NTEC at industry conferences, utility meetings, and regulatory forums to strengthen visibility and relationships across the Western energy markets.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering or related field or 10 years of experience in the energy sector with demonstrated expertise in sales, commercial deal structuring, and PPA negotiations, particularly involving natural gas and coal pricing structures or a combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge to successfully perform the role.
- MBA or advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Energy project development and/or construction experience
- Deep knowledge of financial modeling, transmission and power markets with experience across WECC and CAISO preferred.
- Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management abilities.
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional written communication and analytical skills
- Collaborative team-player who can effectively influence and work across departments to achieve results.
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools; familiarity with market analytics software preferred.
- Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.

Working Environment: Works in office environment and site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
