Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: experience in the leading of work using statistical coding that may include reviewing completed work for accuracy, keeping supervisor informed of progress and ensuring that work is completed in a timely manner; performing statistical clerical work; providing training and instruction for others in statistical coding activities.
Education cannot be substituted for the specialized experience at these grade levels.

Responsibilities:
This job opportunity is for a Supervisory Statistical Assistant position in the Geography Branch (GB), National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Census Bureau located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The incumbent serves as a supervisor with the responsibility of directing employees who perform various transcription/coding operations necessary to process NPC surveys. This position is not included in the bargaining unit.
The individual selected for this position will:
- Assign and review work on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; assure that production and accuracy requirements are met; approve leave and recommend performance standards; set and adjust short-term priorities; and prepare schedules for completion of work;
- Evaluate work performance of staff, hear and resolve complaints from employees, and effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warning and reprimands;
- Verify capabilities for coding application tools for various surveys;
- Serve as Technical Advisor for all coding operations;
- Direct technical discussions of staff and documents needed procedural changes and suggested changes.
