Specialized Experience: You qualify at Grade 06 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the Grade 05 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as leading the work of mail processing activities; sorting, recording, packaging outgoing mail; familiarity with established United States Postal Service (USPS) postal regulations, mail tracking systems, USPS requirements and other clerical related duties, such as sorting mail, screening priority items, and preparing routing and control forms; coordinating schedules, managing a small team in a fast-paced, repetitive, or high-volume environment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Responsibilities:
The individual selected for this position will:- Assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness for the work and directing implementation of procedures according with the Federal, U.S. Postal Regulations, and sponsors.
- Direct the operation of various mailing equipment such as mail sealer, mail meter, and/or strapping machines used in the mailing preparation of census/survey material, which meets the sponsor and USPS specifications and requirements.
- Direct the preparation and coordination of mailing pieces and other miscellaneous items needed for specific surveys.
- Plan and schedule ongoing production-oriented work daily. Based on a fixed schedule: direct the outgoing mail preparation; monitor automated mailing equipment operated by subordinates; prepare appropriate form; records, logs, route lists, etc., associated with mailing operations; file procedures and mail reports.
- Improve work methods and procedures used to produce work products; decide on the acceptability, rejection, or correction of work products or services.
