Hybrid- Loan Underwriter- Private Lending

Position: Private Lending Underwriter
Location: Hybrid (Raleigh, NC)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Salary: $65,000–$75,000 (DOE)

Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced Private Lending Underwriter to join a rapidly growing real estate lending firm. This role is responsible for evaluating borrower financials, project feasibility, and collateral risk for private lending loans, including construction, renovation, and DSCR term loans.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound credit judgment, and the ability to make timely, accurate underwriting decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze borrower credit, financials, and project scope to assess loan risk.

• Review appraisals, budgets, and title documentation for accuracy and compliance.

• Ensure loans meet company credit policy and investor guidelines.

• Manage and prioritize a personal loan pipeline to meet turn-time targets.

• Communicate loan decisions and conditions with internal teams.

• Identify and escalate exceptions or risk concerns when warranted.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with processing, closing, and management teams.

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, ideally within private lending or non-agency/portfolio lending.

• Experience underwriting construction or renovation loans strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with DSCR, fix-and-flip, and bridge products a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan origination/document management systems.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

• Must currently be employed (no unemployment over 12 months).
