Legal Assistant, Jackson, MS β We are a mid-sized Firm searching for an experienced legal assistant to join our team. This non-billable position is designed to enhance the effectiveness of an attorney by providing day-to-day in-office administrative support.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: proactively manage calendars for 3 to 4attorneys, work effectively with other administrative staff both internally and externally to coordinate meetings and/or conference calls, make travel arrangements including flight, ground transportation and hotel, process timely and accurate travel and other expense reports, accurately enter all time entries into billing system in accordance with Firm entry policies, provide telephone coverage and administrative support for multiple team members, assemble and provide client reports, prepare legal documents, file case documents in electronic document management system, monitor case activity, and interact professionally with clients and other attorneys both in person and on the phone.

- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Keep cases organized by providing in-office support to attorneys, establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software.
- Manage the opening and closing of client files.
- Help develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case and generating status reports, as necessary.
- Support case preparation by organizing materials for team case review.
- Responsible for entering billable time entries and making travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Edit, format, print and revise all letters, memos, reports, forms, labels and other printed material.
- Become familiar with court rules and filing procedures.
- Answer phone calls, take notes, messages and redirect calls when appropriate.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Flexible and adaptable in various situations and when interacting with many different personalities.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job tasks.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
- High school diploma required; college degree in related field preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in related field/position preferred.
