The primary purpose of this Income Maintenance Caseworker I position is to assist with the following duties half time between FCMA and Adult Medicaid. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I will assist with the completion of returned mail, returned Medicaid cards, address changes, provider changes, daily completion of the County Transfer, SDX Without Owner, and SDX Exception work queue, weekly completion of Bendex and SDX Data Exchange Reports, weekly completion of the NCTRACKS & SSN/SSA Verification Report, COVID 19 report, SSI Term report, quarterly completion of the Interstate and VA Match Report, monthly completion of the Death Match Report, daily assignment of Mail-In Applications, backup as needed for completion of FRR’s and re-certifications for Adult & FCMA Medicaid and backup phone call rotation during extended absences of Income Maintenance Caseworker II’s.
The assigned duties are to be completed for FCMA & Adult Medicaid recipients in a timely manner in accordance with the FCMA, Adult Medicaid, & Integrated manual, Federal and State rules and regulations. The caseworker will also utilize the training material presented for each program. This worker will make sure all information completed is documented, scanned, and keyed into NC FAST when applicable.
This position is from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
Essential DutiesThis worker will assist FMCA & Adult Medicaid caseworkers with returned Medicaid cards, returned mail and address changes. This includes logging all returned cards, documenting the outcome within NCFAST and shared drive, remailing cards if address is known, requesting contact by client if unable to reach or new address is not listed, updating case to correct address, and notifying worker of any needed actions.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid caseworkers with provider changes. This includes documenting the updated provider within NCFAST and entering Managed Care evidence.
Assist FCMA, Adult Medicaid Supervisors and Income Maintenance Caseworker II’s with the daily completion of the County Transfer Work Queue. This includes clearing all tasks, making certain benefits are reading correct in benefit history, ensure cases are not on hold, resolving evidence in edit if applicable, changing ownership to the appropriate worker for each department and printing copies of the report for each Supervisor.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Supervisor with the daily completion of the SDX Without Owner and Exception Work Queue. This includes printing and assigning ownership of the tasks listed within the SDX Without Owner Work Queue to the appropriate worker for each department. This worker will also resolve the daily tasks listed in the SDX Exception Work Queue as instructed by the Job Aid.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Caseworkers with the weekly completion of various reports, to include the Bendex & SDX Data Exchange printouts, the NCTRACKS & SSN/SSA Verification Report, and pulling and resolving the Recipient on Review report.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Caseworkers with the quarterly completion of the Interstate, and VA Match Report. This includes checking NCFAST for correct entries, requesting verifications from other States, scanning of reports, and forwarding reports to workers for any needed cases actions.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Caseworkers with the monthly completion of the Death Match Report, the COVID 19 report and the SSI Term report, to include all duties associated with pulling and completing these reports.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Caseworkers as backup for the completion of FRR’s as needed. This includes reviewing the FRR log for matches, if not noted on the log checking NCFAST to determine if the information listed is verified. Noting the findings on the FRR, logging the information on the FRR log and documenting the information within NCFAST as allowed by policy. If additional verifications are needed worker will forward information to the appropriate party and forward the requested information to the appropriate worker of each department.
Assist FCMA & Adult Medicaid Caseworkers as backup to phone call rotation during extended absences of Income Maintenance Caseworker II’s. This includes receiving, logging, and resolving phone calls.
Assist FCMA and Adult Medicaid Caseworkers in closing old/inactive Income Support and Insurance Affordability cases, including inactive PDCs, assist in merging cases by putting all household members on same insurance affordability and, when allowable, same PDC.
Applications and RecertificationsAssist FCMA & Adult Medicaid caseworkers in keying incoming paper applications, assigning incoming online applications and completing their monthly re-certifications when needed. This includes when applicable, running AVS & OVS, completing Register of Deed and Property Search verifications for each case to be reviewed, assisting caseworkers in obtaining additional information necessary to complete the review by mailing third party request or making phone calls. Assist Adult Medicaid daily with the logging and assignment of Adult Medicaid applications to caseworkers.
Employee will be expected to work in emergency shelters and/or perform related disaster tasks and perform other reasonable tasks requested by your immediate supervisor, administrator, deputy director or director.
- Calculators, copiers, personal computer, telephone, fax machine, Audio visual equipment and other office equipment will be used in the performance of the duties of this position. Worker in this position must have access to the Eligibility Information system, NC FAST, Register of Deed, Property Search, ACTS, Work Number, OLV, Department of Motor Vehicles, Social Security and Employment Security System. Included in materials used in work are assigned work queues, shared drives, re-certification reports, Death Match Report, NCTRACKS, Adult Medicaid & FCMA Manual, Integrated Manual, Administrative letters, Change Notices, as well as other verbal and written instructions.
- The responsibility of this caseworker position must be accurate and exact as well as timely to avoid delay in benefits and ineligible participation.
- Close visual attention is needed in every phase of the job since reading, writing and using machines make up the duties. Intense mental concentration must be maintained not to make errors, which could have a negative impact on the applicants/recipients and county. Precise attention to detail and accuracy is important. The ability to read and interpret policy is required.

- Graduate from an accredited Associate Degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum.
- Graduate from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program (preferred Medicaid).
- Graduate from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical orT other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
