Greenhouse Maintenance and Facilities

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facility and Maintenance Person to join our team. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of our facilities and growing spaces. Many of the buildings are greenhouse growing structures that are equipped with various temperature controls and irrigation controls. Comfort with low voltage wiring for controls will be a plus. Experience with installing and replacing fan motors is a plus. Familiarity with HVAC in general is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have a natural affinity and passion for plants gardening, along with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position requires physical stamina and a proactive approach to maintaining our grounds and facilities.

During any downtime of maintenance or groundskeeping projects, it is expected that all employees are trained to do various greenhouse tasks to fill their days. Such tasks include mixing soil and filling pots, cleaning, disinfecting greenhouses or equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on landscape areas, including mowing, trimming, and planting.
• Utilize hand tools effectively for various tasks.
• Utilize power tools effectively for various tasks.
• Assist in installing of the irrigation for crops. Ensuring proper water distribution.
• Conduct heavy lifting as needed for moving materials or equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
• Maintain all greenhouse equipment and ensure working order.
• Develop and maintain a routine preventative maintenance lists for all equipment to be checked regularly.
• Collaborate with team members to complete larger maintenance projects on farms or landscaped areas.

Skills

• Proficient in using hand tools related to landscaping and maintenance tasks.
• Basic electrical and plumbing skills is a must.
• Basic carpentry skills a must.
• Basic math skills for measuring areas and calculating material needs.
• Experience with outdoor work, particularly in garden or farm settings.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with greenhouse operations and plant care is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
