Position Purpose:
The Admissions clerks greet patients, inquire about medical aliments, confirm prescheduled procedures, gathers/interviews incoming patients prior to admission, collects insurance, emergency information, and other data required to bring the patient into the hospital system.
Summary of Duties (not all inclusive)
- Admit patients in a timely manner; five to eight minutes for inpatients and day surgery admits, five minutes for Emergency Room admits.
- Ensures verification and pre-certification are done within twenty-four (24) hours of admission.
- Obtain necessary signatures of consent for treatment and insurance forms and any other applicable forms, to include proper identification.
- Assign room per policy and explain hospital pre-payment policy.
- Assist all patients in understanding his/her insurance benefits if such information is available. Refers all uninsured patients to Credit Counselors.
