Position Purpose:
The Admissions clerks greet patients, inquire about medical aliments, confirm prescheduled procedures, gathers/interviews incoming patients prior to admission, collects insurance, emergency information, and other data required to bring the patient into the hospital system.
Job Description:

Admit patients promptly (within 5–8 minutes for inpatients/day surgery, 5 minutes for ER)

Verify insurance and obtain pre-certification within 24 hours of admission

Collect required signatures for treatment, insurance, and other forms with proper ID

Assign patient rooms and explain hospital pre-payment policies

Assist patients in understanding insurance benefits; refer uninsured patients to Credit Counselors

Confirm and update patient personal and insurance information, including emergency contacts

Collect payments, deductibles, and coinsurance at the time of service

Input patient data accurately and promptly into the Hospital Information System (HIS)

Prepare and apply patient identification wristbands

Arrange patient escorts to rooms when applicable

Handle difficult situations with care and professionalism

Provide courteous, accurate, and timely support to internal departments regarding billing and account information

Respond promptly to requests from managers, insurance companies, Medicare, and financial agencies
Required: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English required.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent
