What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Relations Manager position at MUST Ministries?
General Description:
The Community Relations Manager represents MUST Ministries within Cherokee County. As a member of the Development Team, the Community Relations Manager will network with local government, faith-based organizations, civic clubs, community groups, corporations, individuals and others to establish and maintain positive relationships and secure financial and in-kind support for MUST’s mission. This person will positively represent MUST at various meetings and events. This individual should be highly motivated to build partnerships and secure resources for our organization. Must be a passionate fundraiser, strategic thinker, collaborative colleague, and self-starter. This isn’t just networking. It’s business development with a clear purpose: to find partners who can help expand reach, drive leads, and strengthen MUST Ministries’ opportunities to grow and serve.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Creates, maintains and strengthens professional relationships with goal of increasing MUST’s network and community support
- Identify, cultivate, and steward prospective donors; raise funds for operations and special events
- Act as a liaison to the community and represent MUST at events and conferences
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders
- Assist with planning, scheduling and execution of formal/informal public presentations to raise awareness of the benefits of MUST and its programs
- Represent MUST by serving on community committees regarding homelessness, housing, food insecurity, and other community needs, with an emphasis in Cherokee County
- Actively seek partnerships to meet the program needs of MUST operations across our organization with an emphasis in Cherokee County
- Actively participate in larger Development Team meetings and other activities including all Special Events
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least 7 years equivalent work experience.
- Successful experience in developing and cultivating business relationships
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments (and fundraising)
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and understand the needs and interests of community leaders and organizations
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required
- Must be able to travel around the region and to other areas of the county. Weekend and evening work will be required
- Ability to learn and navigate MUST Development CRM database
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors at events, including nights, weekends and Thanksgiving holiday
- Working in an office environment

Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
